Events: The 2019/20 Program Year

Lectures and Presentations are held on the Pomona College campus: At Lyman Hall in the Thatcher Music Building, 340 N. College Ave.; the Seaver House across the street; The Benton courtyard, 211 N. College Ave.; and Rembrandt Hall, 135 E. Bonita Ave. All events open to the public except the Holiday Dinner. The new 4:15 pm “Happy Hour Presentations,” and most other events are followed by wine and cheese receptions.

Sept. 14, 2019, 4:15 p.m. The Art of Human Dignity, by Phillip Senteno, Acrylic and Watercolor Artist, Executive Director, Forward Progress, and ex-felon who credits art as a critical part of his daily survival during his years in prison. Seaver House, followed by wine & cheese reception.

Oct. 3, 2019, 1:30 p.m. Grant Winner Presentations, Lyman Hall, followed by Seaver House reception:

Eroticism and gender politics in France’s “Golden Age of Gastronomy,” by Ariane Xuan Lo, Art History major.

Anamnesis in South Korean art, by Nicole Choi, Studio Art major.

Exploring contemporary inclusive design, by Jordi Pedroza, Studio Art major.

Nov. 14, 2019, 4:15 p.m. Are Not Were: Relics No More: A discussion on teaching about Native Americans, by Gretchen Potter, Tonawanda Seneca writer and educator, Lyman Hall, followed by a reception outside in the current Pomona College Museum of Art courtyard.

Dec. 6, 2019, 6:30 p.m. Holiday Dinner, Seaver House (members and guests only, pre-paid RSVPs required).

Feb. 14, 2020, 4:15 p.m. Culture and Curating, Daphnide Nicole, student, artist, and curatorial intern for the Pomona, in Rembrandt Hall, followed by reception.

Mar. 5, 2020, 1:30 p.m. Making Art, by Trinity Rael Gomez, a remarkable award-winning 16-year-old artist. Lyman Hall, followed by Seaver House reception. Scripps Fine Arts will be our guests.

Apr. 2, 2020, 4:15 The Seven Lost Ranchos of the Inland Valley, by local artist and Rembrandt Club member Bob Smith, Seaver House, followed by reception.

May 21, 2020, 11:30-2:30 Spring Luncheon. Frank Dining Hall, Pomona College, 260 E. Bonita Ave., Claremont.
