Rembrandt Club brings artists and guest speakers from the Southern California art scene as well as those from the local community to share their works and inspiration in monthly programs. Programs are free to the public.

Famous Bus Trips have a trasportation ticket fee of $50 for members/$60 for non-members. Lunch or brunch is on the attendee's own.

The Skirball Cultural Center and Museum--Tickets on Sale Now

Explore the many facets of Jewish and American life in exhibits currently being shown at the Skirball Center---from the traveling exhibits "Inventing America:
The Comic Book Revolution" and Robert Russell and Lisa Edelstein: A Palace in Time"; also on view will be "Uncommon Ground" in addition to the permanent collection "Visions and Values: Jewish Life from Antiquity to America" and Noah's Ark. Free Thursday admission with brunch on your own prior to the musuem tour at 12 noon.

"Living with Glass--An Afternoon in Linda Arndt's Weingarten"

Member Linda Arndt opens her lovely home and garden to share her European glass collection including stained glass mosaics installed on her garden patio by the late Claremont artist Brian Worley. Enjoy wine and cheese in her enclosed yard. Members are invited to bring a special piece from their own glass treasures to display. Attendance is limited to 40 members with a nominal cost of $10. Details will be sent through the September monthly e-newsletter with ticket information and how to purchase.

Perdita Sheirich Junior Art Prize Student Presentations Location: Pomona College Seaver House
Hearing from our Art Prize recipients is always inspirational! The 2026 recipients spent their summer in residencies in New York City (Becca) and in London (Nadia). Both Pomona College seniors explored the field of photography with Becca exploring analog black & white works as well as interning with photo booth technicians around the city. Nadia researched photography at notable London museums. Their presentation will be a momorable afternoon program for Rembrandt Club members and guests in the main first floor room of the historic Seaver House.

Member Appreciation Holiday Tea--
a Members & Guests Only Event
This annual event--an afternoon tea--received rave reviews by attendees last year, so Rembrandt Club returns to Seaver House in December to welcome new members (any member who joined AFTER October 17, 2025) and honor members who reached membership milestones. Tickets available online starting Friday, November 6 at $30.00 for each member. Because this is a seated event, ticket sales will be limited to 60 attendees.

Famous Bus Trip #2:
"A Narrated Bus Tour of Iconic Art Works
Across the Los Angeles Landscape"
Beloved Rembrandt Board Member and Pomona College Art History Professor George Gorse will delight us with a narrated bus trip through Los Angeles. Heading toward the San Fernando Valley and Judy Baca's 1/2 mile long "Great Wall of Los Angeles," we then head south on the Hollywood Frwy past Disney Hall, Our Lady of Angels Cathedral to a visit to the Bradbury Building. After lunch in downtown LA, we take the Harbor Frwy to the iconic Watts Tower before heading back to Claremont.
​ Tickets will go on sale at the December Membership Appreciation event 12/05/26 at $50.00 for members and $60.00 for non-members. Deadline for reservations and payment will be January 2, 2027. The bus seats 45 so be sure to save this date!

Lisa Adams: "40 Years of Art: The Unrealities and Contradictions of Modern LA Landscapes"
Rembrandt welcomes Scripps and CGU alumna, Lisa Adams to share her work rooted in the LA art scene. She has successfully taught at renowned art departments throughout the Los Angeles area and abroad, including the University of Southern California, the Claremont Graduate University, and the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. In 1999 she authored FM* a how-to book about painting based on her teachings at the Santa Monica College of Design, Art and Architecture between 1997-1999.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is in the public collections of many CA museums.

Laura Cullen: "The Do-or-Die Moment of Artistic Creation"

Well-known Souther California artist, Laura Cullen shares her creative process and how she reaches that artist's pivotal moment in completing a final piece. She explains, "I love to paint! It’s such freedom! When I’m painting I feel lost in the music playing, the beautiful colors of the oils, the drips on the canvas -all the magical surprises and small agonies that happen along the way. I never plan what I’ll paint! What I do is choose my color palette, music and let the painting slowly come to me.

Ruthellyn Whittington, "Weaving the Story of My Life"

Claremont fabric artist Ruthellyn Whittington's works are composed of circular and rectangular shapes that depict scenes ranging from favorite real world places to the limitless realms of the imagination. As a textile artist, she finds inspiration from dreams, creative thinking, and her own photographs. She explains, "Each weaving tells a story of my life experiences in which I hope that others can relate. I use hand spun fibers from spinners located all over the worldrld places to the limitless realms of the imagination.




Annual Joint Spring Luncheon with Scripps Fine Arts Foundation
Thursday, May 20, 2027, 11:30--2:30 p.m.

Guest Speaker Vince Skelly, renowned Claremont artist, designer and wood sculptor who chainsaws and chisels West Coast trees into works of art and functional furniture will be featured. This fourth annual end-of-year event for both clubs invites members and guests to be entertained and inspired by Vince's engaging presentation. Invitations with details will be mailed to all members in early April along with ticket prices. Location: Pomona College Frank Dining Hall's Blue Room.
